HarborSource Sourcing factory quotation process

HarborSource Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner. This service page explains how a willscot-led search becomes a comparable RFQ. It is not a manufacturer or authorized dealer, and it does not place an order for original-brand equipment.

Freeze the technical basis

Before a factory is asked for money, the buyer records occupancy, project city, and the code edition the authority having jurisdiction is using. Wind speed in mph, wind exposure category, ground snow load in psf, and seismic design category are copied from the project criteria when they exist. If they do not exist, the line stays open. HarborSource Sourcing will not invent a design live load to make two quotes look tidy.

Floor loading for a file room is not the floor loading for a toolbox store. Write design dead load and design live load as separate notes. Thermal transmittance or a target R-value belongs with the climate, not with a catalog slogan.

Split the commercial boundary

Each supplier states what is inside the number: primary frame, floor, roof, wall panels, doors, windows, interior finish, electrical rough-in, plumbing rough-in, HVAC, stairs, and connection hardware. Foundations, permits, crane time, and site utilities are either included or named as buyer work. A shell price and a turnkey price are different products even when the floor plan matches.

Quantity uses one unit, modules or building sets. Destination is a ZIP or a port, plus any road limit that cuts the transport envelope. Partial shipments are allowed only if the brief says so. Taxes and duties sit on their own lines.

Document stack labeled drawings, calculations, and weld procedure

Read evidence against the offered system

For each alternative, request the manufacturer name, the system name, shop drawings or data sheets, material callouts, and any test report that matches that system. IBC, IRC, HUD Code, ASCE 7, AISC 360, AWS D1.1, IAS AC472, and ISO 9001 are names to ask about. They are not stamps this desk holds, and a general reference is not approval for the site.

Deviations are marked included, excluded, optional, substituted, or waiting. The buyer and the project engineer accept a substitution. The desk only keeps the matrix straight.

Questions that change the comparison

What each factory must answer

Can two quotes be ranked if the scope words differ?

No. Normalize the sheet before any ranking. A delivered module without stairs is not the same offer as an installed classroom with a ramp.

Who picks the code path?

The buyer and the design professional, using the project location. This desk does not certify HUD Code, modular state approval, or an RV rule, and those regimes are not interchangeable.

What stays outside the unit price

Where do freight and installation sit?

On separate lines unless the supplier writes them into a named scope. A low box price with buyer-paid freight is not a lower project total.

Is a budget a promise to hit that number?

It is a buyer target. Factories may decline it. No percentage saving is stated on this page because this desk has no matched quote pair to publish.

Hand the sheet to the desk

Send the use, the size, the loads you have, the jurisdiction, the quantity, and the destination. Say which documents you want back with the quotation. Optional budget and supplier preference travel with the same requirement text.

  • One scope word for every supplier
  • Open items named, not smoothed over
  • Original-brand supply is not requested
